Building authenticity for your ideal client

One thing I’ve learnt during the last couple of years of lockdowns is that my interest in, and knowledge of, the power of nutritional therapy is deeply ingrained in me. During lockdown, more than at any other time, I loved it. I just had to find ways to share it with others as I had done before. I had to redefine my ideal client.

Staying true to my passion

As speaking gigs and 1:1 corporate client clinics were cancelled, I felt that same weird feeling that many of you probably felt - of looking over a wide chasm and wondering what was on the other side. But at no point was it an option for me to do anything other than continue writing, researching, reaching out and talking to people about nutrition.

Lockdown 1 made me completely focus my intentions, and in doing so I worked out how to align my corporate work with my passion. Thanks to new technology, a whole new world opened up!

Authenticity is key

One of my favourite sayings is, ‘If you build it, they will come’ - I think it’s actually a Wayne’s World misquote from Field of Dreams, but who cares?! For me it’s about being authentic, and being specific with your authenticity. It will lead you to your ideal client, and your ideal client to you.

Marketing is all about identifying a need and then fulfilling that need (Nutri Bullet anyone?!) It’s inventing something that you know is important to a certain group or type of people and then taking real pleasure in finding them and telling them all about it.

These are your ideal clients – the people that are looking for the very thing that you want to share. By staying authentic and true to your core beliefs, your values will align with theirs. It’s a match made in heaven!

Your ideal client will come running

If you have the courage of your convictions and are sure in your bones that you have something useful to say and are not afraid to shout it from the roof tops, how can you possibly fail?

You may need to shout quite loudly at times, but get yourself organised, because when you hit the right note, you are going to need your wits about you - they may well come running!

So, ask yourself, ‘what is my passion?’ And ask it regularly, for only you know the answer.
